14. Lethargy in the Morning:-

Q.18. My brother suffers from extreme lethargy in the morning when most people are active after a restful night. What does it indicate?

Ans. Your brother’s is a typical case of dyspepsia. He should take to a diet of boiled vegetables and fruit and should also flush his stomach twice in the week, by taking about a liter of lukewarm water with about 50 grammas of salt after he has visited the toilet. Let him vomit out all the water immediately after ingestion. If he takes to fruits only for a few days and takes an enema so long he is on fruits, it will be doubly beneficial.

15. Boils:-

Q.19. Small boils appear on my and my daughter’s bodies which are extremely painful. I have also noticed a neighbor’s daughter suffering from the same malady. In her case the boils appear on hands and feet and scratching results in their bursting?

Ans. The boils in these cases might be on different parts of the body, but their cause is the same. They are due to the morbid hum ours in the bodies which are not being properly expelled. All of you just take to a diet of fruit for some days. Eat one kind of fruit thrice daily according to how hungry you feel. Take enema also during the days you are on a diet of fruit. Continue it for three days and on the fourth day adopt the following regimen: take half a liter of hot water with about 50 milliliters of juice of lime in the morning after stools. Take soup of vegetables for breakfast, boiled vegetables for lunch and fruits for dinner. Take raisins or figs (about 100 grammas) also with your dinner. Continue it for a week and then start taking bread with boiled vegetables. If you can keep it for a few weeks, boils will disappear and your skin will have a healthy glow.

16.How to Increase the Body Weight:- 

Q.20. How can I increase weight?

Ans. Take to a diet of fruit for three to four days. Take 100 to 150 grammas of bran with the fruit. The best way will be to mix bran with a fruit like papaya. It will increase your appetite, improve the digestion and remove costiveness, if any. You will tend to eat more and the capacity to assimilate your food will be increased.

Foods like flour, rice, honey, raisins, figs, dates, butter etc, can help increase weight. Sweet substances can increase weight better than fatty foods. Those wishing to increase their weight should become pure vegetarians and eat fruits, rice, flour, fresh vegetables, bananas, dry fruits, butter, and milk. Germinated wheat is also extremely beneficial if taken in the form of gruel mixed with hot milk.

Take plenty of water, exercise and fast once a week.

17. Diet during Fevers:-

Q.21. What should a patient suffering from fever eat?

Ans. For the first few days of the fever the patient should be kept on water or fruit juices diluted with water. Milk is not good for a person suffering from fever. Churned curd diluted with water is better than milk. Take to fruits after a few days. The only cereal that can be given with advantage is germinated wheat boiled in water.

18. Boils on Face after Shaving:- 

Q.22. Boils appear on my face after shaving. When they burst the pus spreads and so do the boils. l they also cause irritation.

Ans. Attempting a close shave sometimes produces small boils on the face. Ensure that the razor is clean. A cold compress on the face while going to sleep can help. Foment the face with a hot compress two or three times in a day, but wash your face with cold water after a hot compress. They will activate the circulation of blood. Also take a sun bath for a quarter of an hour in the morning. An exclusive diet of fruits for three to four days, with a daily enema, will accelerate the pace of recovery.

19. Nightmares:- 

Q.23. I suffer from nightmares. There is a feeling of choking and I wake up drenched in perspiration. I am wasting away and nothing has been able to help my condition.

Ans. Disturbed sleep and nightmares are usually the result of an overfull stomach. Eat sparingly at night. Have your dinner three hours before you go to bed. Stop taking milk if that is the last thing you take at night. A light dinner of boiled vegetables and fruits will help cure the condition. Take vigorous exercise so that you are tired by the time you are tired by the time you fall in bed. Take a few deep breaths before falling asleep. Relax every muscle in your body and suggest to yourself that you are not going to have any dreams or nightmares.

20. Intellectual Capacity through Food:- 

Q.24. Can you suggest any diet which will improve my mental faculties?

Ans. Some people take to certain drugs and nostrums under the impression that they will improve their mental faculties. I have not come across any substance which can claim the property of increasing the mental or intellectual capacity of a person. A diet which does not clog your intestines can help you keep healthy and mentally alert. And that is a diet of fruits and vegetables.

21. Milk Diet for Atony of Intestines:-

Q.25. I have weak intestines and am subject of fevers which continue for long periods. A doctor who examined me told me that I might even get T B of the intestines. I am losing weight and am having night emissions too. 

Ans. Take to a milk diet to strength then your intestines; that will deal with night emission and also add to your body weight. Live on orange juice for three days taken in quantities of 200 to 250 milliliters taken three to four times in the day. A daily enema is a must. On the fourth day take at one hourly interval. Reduce the interval to 50 minutes the next day and then to 45 minutes till on the sixth day the interval should be only 30minutes. Continue the milk (250 milliliters at 30-minutes intervals) for five to six weeks. The drinking of milk can continue from seven in the morning to seven in the evening. The total quantity will be about six liters, but that will not be much and cannot harm your digestion. The best way is to take the milk without boiling: during summer you can store it in a refrigerator or cool place.

In case you have constipation from a milk diet, do not be afraid: an enema will deal with it. If it leads to diarrhea, discontinue it for some days and take churned curds instead. The curds should not be too stale and the cream which will appear on it when churned should be separated. Stop separating the cream after about a week.

In case you get sick of taking nothing but milk, suck a lime. In a diet of churned curds, follow each feed with some orange juice.

Take a sunbath for 15 minutes in the morning and take a bath water at body temperature at about ten in the morning. During the course of the milk diet, rests like an infant.

After six weeks, gradually reduce the quantity of milk, by taking it only up to 1 P.M. and then switching on to fruits in the evening with half a liter of milk. On the third day when you have stopped taking milk in the later part of the day, switch over to a diet of boiled vegetables and bread in the evening. Take water when you feel thirsty. At the conclusion of the course, you can take to normal exercise in the morning and evening with normal food.

This course of tr5eatment will rejuvenate you adding to your body weight.

22. Headache:- 

Q.26. I get headaches frequently. Once it starts, the headache continues for 12 hours. An analgesic provides temporary relief but the brief respite is followed by a more splitting ache.

Ans. A headache is usually the result of a malfunctioning intestine. See that you do not suffer from constipation; if you do, treat that condition first. Never take a pain killer for a headache, as that is likely to be more harmful in the long run.

Hydropaths can provide a permanent cure for headaches. Start it with a diet of fruits for three to four days cleaning your bowels with a daily enema. On the fourth day take whole meal bread and boiled vegetables for dinner. Take a hip bath in the morning and evening. The period of the hip bath should be increased gradually to ten minutes. On the tenth day take a genitals bath in the morning instead of a hip bath. The bathing of the genitals should be for ten minutes and gradually increase the time up to fifteen minutes. Start taking cow’s milk in the evening with sinner when you take to genitals bath.

In the beginning take it for ten minutes but gradually increase the period to fifteen minutes. Supplement your diet with cow’s milk when you take to genitals bath. This bath should be continued for a month. During this period of six to eight weeks the headache will leave you for ever.

During this period whenever you feel constipated, take an enema. Take sunbath once a week: sit in the sun till you perspire freely. If it is too hot, cover your head with a wet towel. Take a cold bath immediately after a sunbath.

23. Discharge of Phlegm:- 

Q.27. I am a healthy man; the only complaint I have is that to go on expelling phlegm which is thick and viscid. How can I get rid of it?

Ans. Phlegm troubles those who eat refined flour, milled rice, lentils and milk. Vegetables and fruit can reduce the amount of phlegm produced in the body. If the food is not properly digested or assimilated by the body, phlegm is abnormally high. Exercise and increasing of the vegetable content of the food would meet this condition.

An expedient which can give quick results is the drinking of warm water (about a liter) with a tablespoonful of salt added to it. Drink it after you have gone to the toilet and then vomit it out. Most of the phlegm would be expelled.

24. Cold Compress for Itch:-  

Q.28. I am suffering from body itch; the disease has become more troublesome after a temporary relief. I have taken to salt less diet and eat only bread, tomatoes, green gram and milk. Can any drugs help?

Ans. Itch is a skin disease caused by impure blood. The best way to purify the blood is to ensure that you void your stools and pass urine in adequate quantities and also perspire so that poisonous hum ours are expelled from the body. Take an enema daily to clear your bowels, take as much water as you can and spend some time in covering your body with a cold bandage. What you should do is this: spread four blankets on a hard bed or on the floor. Take a cotton bed sheet, dip it in cold water and wring it lightly. Spread the wet sheet over the blankets. Take off your clothes and lie down on the sheet, covering your body with it. Wrap the blankets over you one by one. Within half an hour to an hour you will perspire profusely. Drink some hot water before you wrap yourself in the wet sheet and the process of perspiration will be hastened. After an hour take a cold bath. Take this treatment thrice in a week. On alternate days, rub your skin with your palms after wetting them with cold water. The pores will open and the entire harmful hum ours will be expelled from the body.

A salt free diet is the best for itch; you can resume salt after you are cured. Take to matoes and green gram for lunch and bread and green vegetables for dinner. In case green gram is not available, eat germinated gram.

Itching skin may be covered with a light paste of coconut oil and lime juice. That will destroy the germs that cause the itch. Keep away from members of the family as itch is contagious.

25. Polio:-

Q.29. My two your old daughter is unable to move her left leg and arm. She cannot stand or hold anything in her left hand. The doctors say it is polio. Is there any cure for it?

Ans. Polio (Poliomyelitis) or infantile paralysis is a terrible disease which afflicts children. Its onset is usually accompanied by high temperature. After the fever subsides, the parents notice that the child is unable to move his limbs on one side of the body. According to modern medicine, a virus is responsible for the affliction, but mostly the virus, if there is a virus, attacks the patient if the fever is treated in the wrong way.

Polio can be cured if the vital force of the child is strengthened. He must stay in a place where there is fresh air in plenty. Take him to spend fifteen minutes in the sun at about 7 in the morning. Encourage him to use all his limbs. His diet should consist mainly of vegetables, fruits and milk. His breakfast should be of milk and fruits, lunch of bread and vegetables, evening meal of milk and fruits again and dinner of vegetables and bread.

Polio-stricken children must have a hot bath always. Such a child should be made to relax in a supine position in a tub filled with water at a temperature of 900 F for an hour. Maintain the temperature of the water at 900 F by adding more hot water. Cover the head of the child with a cloth wetted with cold water.

 26. Fat on the Abdomen:-

Q. 30. I am a mother of three children. There are layers upon layers of fat on my abdomen: the skin is criss-crossed with furrows. Can you suggest anything which would do away with the fat?

Ans. The skin over the abdomen is stretched during pregnancy and lack of exercise after childbirth results in accumulation of fat all over the abdomen. Hip baths and long walks can deal with the condition. Fast walking for five to seven kilometers, hip baths and a diet of vegetables and fruit can help reduce fat.

 27. Crow’s feet and Loosening of skin of Face:-

Q.31. The skin of my face hangs in folds and there are crow’s feet under the eyes. Can you help?

Ans. First of all you must improve your health by following the principles outlined in this book. Secondly, you must have an optimistic outlook on life. Drink at least one to two liters of water in the day. Wash your face and neck with warm water and then give it a cold douche. Do not wipe the skin with a towel but massage it with your palms. Your palms must move upward from the neck. Apply sesame or coconut oil over the face and neck before you go to sleep: pat your face lightly after application of oil for three to four minutes. Wipe the oil with a soft cloth and then with a wet towel. Remember that anger and irritation add to the lines of age on the face. A smile, better still, a hearty laugh exercises the muscles of the face better than anything and that can take care of the loose skin better than anything.
